Exploring and Eating – Copenhagen

We traverse the city on our bikes, visit a butterfly garden, and seek out the best coffee roasters. There is an abundance of very good coffee in the city.

We have found many of the cemeteries double as parks where locals stroll, relax and read a book, or jog.

We explore an unusual street food market. 0ver 40 different food vendors using old vans and shipping containers as the shop fronts. Overlooking the waterfront, it has a rusty feel, yet, the food is all freshly prepared and the vendors are required to use recyclable products and organic whenever possible.

Shipping containers are used for tiny housing in Copenhagen. Some are very basic, as these, and some are much elaborate. It is a simple, inexpensive idea for low income and student housing.

And today we made pastries, so many, yummy pastries. In stark contrast to our last casual in home baking class, this was at a professional pastry school run by a professional chef. Both equally interesting and the outcome of both was delectable treats. We left with two dozen pastries! We gave them to the bike shop owner where we have rented our bikes and the carpet installers working in our building. They were all very happy to have fresh, warm pastries.

Breathtaking parks and mouthwatering foods, quaint churches and intriguing cemeteries, artisan coffee and meaningful conversations, these are the things we seek out while traveling.

Thanks for following us.

  1. I love cemeteries, too. And those pastries look absolutely awesome! Yum. I love taking cooking classes wherever I go. They’ve gone from sublime to lousy, but they’re always good for a story.
