Sierra Mountains California – Continued

The next morning we continue our journey on highway 4 into the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

These small towns take us a step back in time.

Picnic in Angels Camp, famous for frog jumping competitions.

We stop at the national forestry ranger station. We find they are always helpful with local information, camping suggestions, and great maps!

Per the recommendations, we found a beautiful deserted campground along the Stanislaus River.

Ready for a day hike; armed with bear bells and spray, lunch, binoculars, our water bottles, and zinc oxide covering my face, (in case you are wondering why I looked so pale. Unfortunately, it is the only protection I can put on my face without a chemical reaction. Oh, the joys of getting older………………)

We discovered the Me-Wuk Native American tribe sacred ceremonial site.

We choose a trail that follows the river. Apparently the “trails” are not maintained, finding the path often required going around fallen trees, climbing up rocks and crossing creeks. A bit challenging and beautiful.

Evening fishing for Gary, while I relax.

We are heading home after a few perfect days of escape from the city.  Of course, we immediately take a detour directly out the gates of the campground, searching for a recommended fishing spot. Up the mountain we go, dodging tree branches, small fallen boulders, and potholes. Then, we encounter the snow. We are not 4W drive and decided not to attempt continuing on. The snow made for fun pictures.

We continue our journey home, selecting uncharted backroads through rice fields, farmland, vineyards, and rolling hills.

Thanks for following along on our adventures. We love your comments.

We are forever so very grateful for all we have. The last couple of years has truly taught us that time goes by quickly and you never know what may come next. Live and enjoy, be kind, and keep the heart open.

We send our prayers out to those who are suffering in this crazy world.

COMING SOON!!

Bags are packed, getting ready with the big plan to finally return to Italy after 2 ½ years and five cancelled trips! We leave in a couple of weeks. Follow us on our next adventures………………………….

More to come on our packing tips…….
