Day Tripping – Lexington Reservoir

The central coast of California is full of wonderful places to hike and bike with temperate weather allowing year-round explorations. We are so fortunate to be near mountains, lakes, beaches, both state and regional parks. We chose a nearby location in the hillsides of the Santa Cruz mountains. Lexington Reservoir is a major source of water for the Bay Area, also a popular location for kayaking and canoeing.  For the past several years, with the droughts, the water level had remained extremely low.

Basically, it turned out to be all uphill to the top, then all downhill in return, steeper than expected. Would not want to do this hike in the heat of the summer. I took some pics, no wildflowers blooming yet, the terrain is not that interesting,
