Still in California…..

We didn’t get far. I wanted to check out Patrick’s Point, where we stayed when I was a kid and I fondly remember the beauty of the redwoods and beach with colored agate stones. The entrance sign says “campground full” but when we get to the ranger kiosk they have a site available. Two nights, why not it is the weekend.

We had enough daylight to trek to the beach and collect agates.

We woke to pounding rain on our roof. The large drops are loud on the metal roof. Thankfully a fellow four-wheeler (we love to chat with others who have our same kind of camper), had warned us about the potential rain and we were prepared for it. Covering the bikes, get our rain gear and boots in the camper. There was a good size puddle outside our door in the morning. Camping in the rain makes for lots of mud and debris everywhere. But we are warm and cozy inside.

By mid-morning it was sunny and clear, and we were able to hike.

Sumeg Village is an active ceremonial location for the Yurok Native American people. The round holes in the buildings are doorways large enough for people but not for Grizzly Bears!

We hiked the top of Ceremonial Rock.

View from the bottom up. ————————————- View from the top down.

Will we make it into Oregon tomorrow? Follow us to see.

  1. So glad you two are out adventuring again! And sharing it with us, too! Looks like a pretty place you stayed, despite some rain. No rain here, but sunshine and no fog for two days in a row. Wow!

    Sending hugs to you both!
