Arrived – Lucca Italy

Oh, the adventures of traveling. I now have a greater understanding and much respect for those who must mask up for the entire workday. Previously, the most we have worn our masks was for shopping, not even an hour. Masks are required on the plane, including while sleeping, the only exception is when eating. In business class we are in little pods. It felt pretty safe.

Then there was London Heathrow. Contrary to SFO, London airport was insane; busy, barely anyone wearing masks, crowded everywhere! I didn’t even take any pictures, it was a bit much for us. We found a secluded area of the airport to await our next flight.

Wandering the town, enjoying a gelato.

I have a theory for surviving jet-lag. Stay up later, and don’t get out of bed when you awake in the middle of the night. I did lots of relaxing techniques the first night to try and go back to sleep. We both finally went back to sleep and felt fine the next day. It worked.

Night two; woke up, dark, maybe it is close to morning so we can justifiably get up. I go to look at the clock, 2:30 am! We have only been asleep for 3 1/2 hours. Did eventually get back to sleep, but, by mid-afternoon the next day, we ended up taking a nap. My theory didn’t work so well….

We have our place all set up for dining and working. We have already make a big pot of soup.

Lucca is a magical city. We are so happy to be back.

Thanks for all your comments, we appreciate them.
