We are in France!

Frejus is our first stop in France. We dropped off our rental car in Genoa, and the next day took a train to Frejus. Here we rented another car to spend the next five days traveling in France to Bretagne region where we will meet some more family of ours. When we planned this part of our trip, we decided to “wing it”, and not have any reservations for accommodations. This turned out to not be as relaxing as we would of liked, and now we have come to the conclusion that to have a place to stay already reserved is more to our liking. Most of these next five days were spent on the road, and searching for places to stay. And this does not make for enjoying the French culture that much. That being said,
we still managed to find good coffee, and really good pastries!
However, paying for them became more difficult, ’cause we don’t speak French! This is a real problem.
Right next to Frejus, is Saint Raphael, and this little town has a lot of charm and old world feel,
The churches, odd old buildings, and the cobblestone streets.
There is also a harbor walk,

A nice little open air market. It seems only natural to always find these markets in European towns, even without knowing they will be there.
And a funny game that the locals play, that looks a bit like Italian bocce ball, except you have to stand in a small ring when you bowl.

It is called Petanque, and apparently Frejus is the capital of this game. The players looked awfully serious when they were playing.
We took a couple night pictures,

And headed off to dinner,

Everywhere we go seems to have real good fish dishes.
Before we left the next morning we did some looking around, and there was an exhibit in an old church,

And on our way,
Nancy may have found a new French guy!
But she may have to await the outcome of the little dispute going on!
Hope she makes it!
So we figured anytime is a good time for coffee and gelato,

They mound it up here, but not as high as Florence,
And we went our way through France,
Stay with us as we head to visit our French family. Thanks for following us!
